The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial item Description for all Federal Agencies.
1. SCOPE. This Commercial item Description (CID) is in preference to MlL-C-43258.
2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS.
2.1 Description. The braided cord shall be fabricated from nylon, polyester, or flax fibers to meet the physical properties specified in table I, If fabricated from flax fibers, the cord shall have a hard polished, smooth dressed finish, The cord shall be natural white or orange in color.

2.2 Put-up. The cord shall be furnished without knots or splices in 25 ± 1 yard lengths and shall be put up on pressed wood fiberboard (tempered hardboard), plastic or wood surveyor’s blocks (winders) measuring approximately 2-3/8 by 4-3/4 inches overall. Each length of cord shall be continuous throughout, shall contain no loose ends and shall be wound so that each turn and layer is free from entanglement.
